Who We Are

Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN 39-4243833) based in Marina del Rey, California. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you visit our website (the "Site").

Information We Collect

We collect only the information needed to operate the Site and communicate with the people who support our mission.

Information you provide directly

  • Contact form submissions: name, email address, and message (used to respond to questions or subscribe you to updates, at your request)

  • Newsletter signup: if you subscribe to our newsletter or articles through Substack, Substack collects and manages your email address directly, subject to Substack's own privacy policy.

  • Donation information: when you donate, you are directed to Givebutter, our third-party donation platform. Givebutter collects your payment and contact information directly; Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. receives donor name, contact information, and gift amount from Givebutter for stewardship and tax-receipt purposes, but does not receive or store your full payment card details.

Information collected automatically

Standard technical information such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected through cookies and analytics tools as described in our Cookie Policy.

Information we do not collect

This website is used solely for donations and information about our organization and our work. It does not collect any patient information or protected health information (PHI) of any kind, from children or adults. The Site is not a telehealth platform, does not provide any mechanism for submitting patient health data, and is entirely separate from any clinical or hospital-facing systems Pediatric Moonshot operates.

Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adult visitors, including donors, partners, and members of the public interested in our mission. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at julee.sung@pediatricmoonshot.org so we can delete it.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to inquiries submitted through the Site

  • Process and acknowledge donations, including issuing tax receipts

  • Communicate with donors, partners, and supporters about our work, with consent where required

  • Understand and improve how the Site is used

  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations, including nonprofit reporting requirements

We do not sell personal information. We use Google Ads only through the Google Ad Grants nonprofit program to measure the performance of our own campaigns, and we do not otherwise share visitor information with third parties for their marketing purposes.

How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to operate:

  • Givebutter: processes donations on our behalf and shares donor and gift information with us for stewardship and receipting

  • Buzzsprout and Substack: host our podcast and articles; visitors click through to these sites to listen or read, so your interactions there are governed by Buzzsprout's and Substack's own privacy policies, not this one

  • Google Analytics: processes aggregated visitor behavior data, including campaign performance

  • Google Ads: through the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits, tracks conversions from our free search advertising (for example, whether a visitor who clicked an ad went on to donate)

  • Legal or regulatory bodies, if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights and safety of Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. or others

We do not share personal information with unrelated third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to opt out of certain communications.

California residents: California's privacy law (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) generally applies to for-profit businesses that meet certain revenue or data-volume thresholds. As a small nonprofit, Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. does not currently meet these thresholds and is not required to comply with the CCPA. As a matter of good practice and respect for our supporters, we will still honor reasonable requests to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.

To exercise any of these rights, contact julee.sung@pediatricmoonshot.org.

You can unsubscribe from email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link included in those emails, or by contacting us directly.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

We retain donor and contact information for as long as needed to maintain accurate records, comply with legal and tax obligations, and support our ongoing relationship with supporters.
