What Cookies Are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site function, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use the site.

Cookies We Use

Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. uses a limited set of cookies on this Site:

Essential cookies

Required for the Site to function properly, such as maintaining basic site settings. These cannot be turned off, as the Site would not work correctly without them.

Analytics cookies

Used to understand how visitors use the Site, such as which pages are viewed and how long visitors stay. We use Google Analytics for this purpose, including to understand how visitors arrive at the Site through specific campaigns. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally.

Advertising cookies

We participate in the Google Ad Grants program for nonprofits, which provides free search advertising. As part of this program, Google may set cookies to measure ad performance and conversions (for example, tracking whether a visitor who clicked a Google ad went on to make a donation or fill out a form). The Ad Grants program is limited to text-based search ads and does not include access to the Google Display Network or remarketing, so these cookies do not follow visitors to other websites.

Third-party cookies

When you make a donation, the Site connects you to Givebutter, our donation processing partner. Givebutter may set its own cookies as part of that process, governed by Givebutter’s own cookie and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review. Our podcast and articles are hosted on Buzzsprout and Substack; visitors click through to those sites to listen or read, so Buzzsprout and Substack do not set cookies on this Site itself. Once you leave to visit them, their own cookie and privacy policies apply.

Why We Use Cookies

We use cookies to:

We do not sell visitor data, and we do not use cookies to build advertising profiles beyond measuring our own Google Ad Grants campaign performance.

  • Keep the Site functioning correctly

  • Understand how visitors find and use the Site, so we can improve it

  • Measure the performance of our Google Ad Grants search campaigns

  • Support secure donation processing through Givebutter

Managing Cookies

Most web browsers let you control cookies through their settings, including blocking or deleting cookies. Because essential cookies are required for basic site function, blocking all cookies may affect how the Site displays or performs.

We do not currently display a cookie consent banner. California’s privacy law (CCPA/CPRA) requires this only for organizations that meet certain size or data-volume thresholds, which Pediatric Moonshot, Inc. does not currently meet. We will revisit this if that changes.

You can also opt out of Google Analytics tracking generally by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, if applicable.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy as our use of cookies changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
