Pediatric Moonshot was built on a simple belief: Every child who needs expert care should have access to it.
Critical medical information is still shared by rudimentary means like fax, CD, printouts. The responsibility for conveying records falls on patients and families. Privacy constraints and fragmented systems make real-time sharing nearly impossible. The moment passes before expertise can reach the child.

How it all started
Dr. Timothy Chou, a pioneer of cloud computing and the first President of Oracle's cloud business, had retired and was teaching at Stanford. One day, a pediatric cardiologist named Dr. Anthony Chang walked into his class.
Anthony shared the story of a girl in Myanmar with a heart condition. He was the expertise she needed, but her echocardiogram couldn't be read in time. She didn't survive. That question stayed with Timothy: if the expertise existed, why couldn't it reach her? He came out of retirement to build the answer.

Dr. Timothy Chou
Founder
"To those much is given, much is expected."
Timothy is a pioneer of cloud computing — the first President of Oracle's cloud business and the founder of Stanford's first cloud computing class, which has hosted more than 100 public company CEOs. He's the author of landmark books that predicted the rise of SaaS. In 2020 he came out of retirement to found Pediatric Moonshot, putting everything he'd built toward the problem he believes matters most.

Julee Sung
Executive Director
"If you are blessed with the opportunity to be the change, take it. Wholeheartedly."
For a mission this unconventional, an unconventional leader made sense. A corporate executive, entrepreneur, and bestselling author, Julee was instrumental in establishing Pediatric Moonshot as a 501(c)(3) — turning a powerful vision into a real organization. She brings the same conviction to everything she does: that children can't wait, and neither can we.
